About Me
Getting to know the person behind the practice
My Journey into Counselling
I came to counselling through my own experience of how transformative it can be to feel truly heard. Having navigated my own periods of uncertainty, loss, and self-discovery, I understand first-hand how much courage it takes to reach out — and how profoundly that step can change things.
I trained as a person-centred counsellor over 15 years ago and have since worked with individuals, couples and family groups across a wide range of life experiences. I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework.
I set up Authentic You Counselling because I believe that everyone deserves a space that is genuinely theirs — free from judgement, pressure, or expectation. A place where you can simply be yourself, and begin to find your way forward.
My Approach
When you sit with me, I will help you feel safe enough to explore whatever you’re carrying. I won’t analyse you or try to push you in a particular direction. Instead, I’ll be right there with you, listening closely and trying to understand how things feel from your side. I want you to sense that you can bring your whole self into the room—your worries, your hopes, your confusion, your quiet thoughts—without fear of being judged. I will help you slow down and notice what’s happening inside you. As you talk, I’ll pay attention to the moments that feel tender or difficult, and I’ll gently share what I’m sensing. I’ll be honest with you, and I’ll show up as a real person, not someone hiding behind a professional mask. My hope is that this helps you feel more comfortable being real too. I will help you reconnect with your own inner voice—the one that knows what hurts, what matters, and what you need. Even if you’ve lost touch with it, I believe it’s still there. I won’t rush you or try to “fix” things. I’ll stay alongside you, trusting your pace and your process. Most of all, I will help you feel valued. Even in the places where you doubt yourself or feel unsure, I’ll meet you with warmth and acceptance. Over time, my hope is that you begin to offer yourself some of that same kindness. And when you do, I’ll be right there with you, witnessing that gentle shift.
